Start Herb Garden: What You Should Know

Most people, especially beginners, think that it's difficult to start herb gardening but the real score is, it's really quite easy. It's a great way for beginners to get started on gardening since it's easier to grow herbs than to grow roses.

It's easy to start herb garden planting and you can start in two ways. The first way of gardening is by using seeds. This is considered the most common way of starting herb gardening, since growing plants from seed is inexpensive compared to the counterpart method. You can even start growing your seeds in egg cartons and just transplant them to a bigger part once they are ready. The egg carton can be cut and planted with the herb with no worries since they are entirely biodegradable. This activity is also recommended to be done with kids so they can learn about how plants grow. Some schools require the children to plant seeds in egg cartons then water the herbs, make the herbs grow and during Mother's Day, bring the herbs to their mothers as their gift.

You can also start herb gardening by planting herbs from live seedlings (small young plants) which you can buy in nurseries or garden centers. After that, you'll just have to plant them in pots with 6 inches depth to allow enough room for the roots to spread out. Remember that the way you can control the size of the plant is to control the size of the pot on which they are planted.

Upon starting herb garden planting, it's very essential for you to know these questions:
1. Outdoor vs Indoor Garden
2. Best location to plant
3. Herbs to plant

If you chose to plant indoors and you don't have an area near a window that's wide enough to place the pots, you can always start herb garden planting in your kitchen even if your kitchen has no windows; all you got to do is supplement the herbs' lighting needs with fluorescent lamps or LED lamps. This is due to the reason that fluorescent light bulbs also provide a light that is similar to sunlight so plants can still get the enough amount of light that they need without windows. If you can afford fancy indoor garden machines, that would be great though fluorescent lamps provide the same function at a much lower cost.

Do not be afraid to start herb gardening because I tell you, it's really simple, inexpensive and rewarding especially for those who are into cooking. Moreover, these herbs are not only used in cooking but also in medicinal purposes, fragrance making and tea creation Why not give it a try?
